The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics (PuR) of the Technical University of Munich specializes in the empirical and theoretical analysis of microeconomic problems related to farms, firms, households and other supply chain actors. The chair group has core competencies in production and management, innovation and technology, resources and ecosystems, rural employment and food security as well as socio-economic aspects and rural development. The chair concentrates on mixing qualitative and quantitative methods and favors interdisciplinary approaches and research alliances both in Germany and especially abroad. The chair group has profound experiences in coordinating and contributing to European projects with OECD, BMZ, BMBF, EUH2020, among others.
The group is involved in different international research networks that deal with bioeconomy, natural resources, agricultural production, smart technology and development-related questions. The chair has extensive experience with surveys and data-driven analyses. Researchers at the chair are crucially involved in prolific international projects that aim to model, identify and measure trade-offs or synergies between sustainability and economic productivity at different levels of analysis (i.e. at farm, firm, household, sectoral, regional, interregional levels).
