In 2021 our main activity was the organisation of a workshop in the different countries involved in the project: Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia. Each was held inlocal language and was addressed to professionals from the agri-food sector from RIS regions of these countries on the following topics: ancient cereals, medicinal plants and technological and market aromatic herbs; sensor monitoring and digital agriculture used for plant cultivation; business models evolution for farmers in rural areas. The dates on which the workshops were held in the different countries was: 21 October (Slovakia), 6 November (Italy), 23 November (Portugal), 25 November (Poland), 8 December (Greece).
The 5 Workshops introduced specific methods in order to engender potential business ideas for new ventures by assessing business models’ viability. In each country, the event opened with the screening of videos of lectures given by Grupo AN and TUM translated into the local language.
The objective of the event in all countries was to help the participants foster, gain (or re-gain) skills, techniques and know-how aimed at revitalizing the cultivation of ancient/almost vanished varieties of cereals, medicinal plants and aromatic herbs. The aim of the activity was also to bring knowledge about sustainable innovative farming techniques as well as on innovative tools and machinery for agriculture digitalization and production yield increase, in the full understanding that the future of agriculture will be based on innovative methods of agricultural production and management. The Workshops were advertised and promoted in the 5 different countries through a subscription form in local language through which trade associations, local associations of farmers and small entrepreneurs were informed and had to sign in for the upcoming event.
