Environmental Anthropology Today is a collection of papers in ecological and environmental anthropology with an editorial introduction. The title should not be interpreted to mean that the current state of the field is assessed or sys tematically covered. The editors assembled a diverse set of papers with few connections among them and assigned 13 to this volume and another 12 papers to a volume on “future trends” that is scheduled for publication by Routledge in February 2013. Perhaps when taken together the two volumes will represent a more balanced sampling of the state of the field at the end of the first decade of the twenty-first century than this volume offers alone.
